Biography

Shoma Furui / 古井翔真

Born in Osaka, Japan in 1997. Product and industrial designer.
My practice focuses on forms of richness that cannot be measured by performance or convenience alone. By looking anew at natural phenomena, materials, industrial technologies, cultural practices, and everyday activities that often go unnoticed, I seek to uncover new perspectives and translate them into products and experiences.

After graduating from Nagoya City University in 2020, I joined Sharp Corporation, where I have worked on the product design of multifunction printers, logistics robots, smartphones, televisions, and other products, while also pursuing an independent design practice.

In 2022, my project “KUMO” received the Grand Prix at the Toyama Design Competition. I was a finalist in the KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD in 2023 and 2024, and exhibited at SaloneSatellite in 2025. In 2026, I initiated and led the planning of “Sharp Design: A Designer’s Perspective.”
